AWL CZ – the gateway to Central Europe

In 2006 AWL started its local operational activities with the acquisition of a small engineering company in a town called Otrokovice in the Czech Republic. This local operation is now called AWL CZ. It was clear that this company had the potential of being able to realize AWL’s potential growth in Central Europe. Not only was it strategically located, due to a concentration of automotive and sheet metal industry in this area, it also acted as a stepping-stone for AWL to move further to the east.

Initially, AWL CZ was incorporated into AWL’s supply chain, creating larger volume flexibility and outsource capabilities to a better-cost country. By cooperating in this way for a couple of years AWL CZ was able to develop its internal processes and educate its employees, bringing them up to the level of professionalism and experience that is required to fit well into and add value to AWL’s supply chain, and also allowing local customers to benefit from local service and support that is fast, in their own language and at local and favourable conditions.

In 2009 Jiri Dostrasil became Business Unit Manager of AWL CZ and was actively involved in assisting the company reach a higher level of professionalism and expertise.
AWL CZ is now able to handle projects that cross its path, from engineering and fixture building to integration. An extensive exchange programme between the Czech Republic and the Netherlands ensures that the right information, knowledge and experience are present at AWL CZ so that in the field of engineering, controls, fixture building and integration, the competences of the CZ crew are fully synchronized within the whole AWL organization.

Although AWL CZ is AWL’s little sister, the ambitions of the CZ team are big. AWL CZ wants to strengthen its self-supporting character by commercially focusing on solid local players of global organizations, offering quality and reliability, and the commitment not to stop performing until they achieve that objective. While so doing, the AWL CZ team of skilled workers takes great pride in its work and has truly developed into a self-supporting organization.

With ever more production capacity shifting from Western to Central Europe, the development of the Czech company is geographically and strategically well situated and well timed. With a mature and competitive product portfolio of engineering, local sourcing, fixture and cell building, integration and services, AWL CZ feels confident to face the future.
