AWL-Techniek appoints Laser Safety Officer
Working with advanced laser applications is not without danger. Since AWL uses high-power lasers, which entails great risks in the case of misuse or lack of knowledge, laser safety is an extremely important issue for AWL. To ensure that safety is embedded in the organisation, a Laser Safety Officer has been appointed.
The purpose of this expert is to implement the policy on laser safety and to ensure that employees uphold the laser safety regulations. Dennis Broekhof is AWL’s Laser Safety Officer. He has worked for AWL for many years and has a sound knowledge of the organisation, laser welding and safety. He is therefore an excellent choice for this position.
As the Laser Safety Officer he defines, together with the laser safety commission the internal policy in regards to laser safety. Next to this he also compiles the laser safety report, stating the dangers and the measures taken; the goal being that employees are not exposed to laser radiation. In addition, he provides a safe lay-out for the laser welding facilities and also registers and instructs new laser operators.
By working in this way, AWL firmly secures laser safety within the organisation and facilitates a safe environment for working with lasers.
